It’s Aries Season. It’s a time for new beginnings, fresh starts, and the renewal of life. But this isn’t your usual Aries Season. In the midst of a major world change we have to stay put. How do we move forward in this new time? Spring arrives against a backdrop of Saturn’s social distancing and quarantines and a major meetup of Jupiter and Pluto that could shape what happens next. The combination of cosmic forces happening in April could be quite volatile, and we may see and feel an increase in heightened emotions. But with all of this, there is also incredible opportunity for growth and abundance too.
Back in March we had a major time shift when Saturn moved into Aquarius which highlights community and social connection, science and technology as well as the needs of humanity. Click here to read more about that shift.
Venus arrives in Gemini on April 3, a sign that it will be in for four months versus its usual 3-4 weeks. This means that we’re getting ready for Venus Retrograde. And while Venus is quite flirty and playful in Gemini, loving to socialize and connect, we may have to do that virtually this month because of social distancing and the pandemic.
Keep an eye on the first of three powerful alignments of Jupiter/Pluto in Capricorn this year. This one is on April 4 and it happens every 12 years. (For reference, the last time Jupiter and Pluto aligned was December 2007.) Since a lot of our world events in February and March coincided with major planetary alignments in Capricorn, we may see a new phase unfold this month. At the same time, some history’s worst pandemics also fell during Jupiter/Pluto conjunctions, including the Bubonic Plague, the 1918 Great Influenza and the HIV/AIDS crisis. Truth-teller Jupiter exposed what Pluto’s been hiding so we can “know our enemy.
But Jupiter/Pluto conjunctions can also bring major developments and progress, resourcefulness and hope. As they make their first connection, there’s optimistic news that Abbott Labs will mass-produce COVID-19 home testing kits and Johnson & Johnson is starting human trials of a possible vaccine.

A Libra Full Moon on April 7 puts the spotlight on relationship and cooperation. In Libra, this Full Moon will highlight our relationships and get us to question the connections we have in our life. It will also guide us to focus on the relationship we have with ourselves, and can be a catalyst in helping us reach a deeper state of self-love and acceptance. With Venus, the ruler of the full moon, in Gemini, we have to seek out new perspectives, new ideas, and a new vision on things. The New Moon in Taurus on April 23 carries the energy of change and new information may come to the surface that takes us by surprise. But, with the grounded earthiness from the Taurus Sun, we will be able to surrender and allow ourselves to go with the flow with greater ease.
Mercury passes through Aries on April 11 and marks a time when ideas move quickly and words tend flow without reflection. The great potential of this period is the increased possibilities for new concepts and perspectives which we can certainly use right now. Pioneering thinking is about pushing the envelope.
As the Sun moves into earthy Taurus on April 19, we will start feeling more comfortable and grounded with the direction of our lives. While Taurus may have a reputation as stubborn, the Bull also is placid and steady and we will welcome this new energy after the nonstop activity of Sun in Aries. However, since Taurus is a fixed sign, we may notice a tendency to be so overly focused on the direction that we are taking that we don’t allow outside or alternative viewpoints to be considered.
Pluto stations retrograde on April 25, beginning its yearly backward motion. In retrograde motion, Pluto’s action is internalized, and it gives us time to process the changes we have experienced whilst Pluto has been in direct motion. Pluto will remain in retrograde motion until the beginning of October, giving us a long period of time to explore the deepest aspects of ourselves and deal with our shadows. With Pluto causing so much havoc this year, we’ll be glad to see him move to the backseat. Pluto rules, among many things, death, so perhaps during this retrograde the toll of the virus will lessen.
The final movement of the month is Mercury’s entering Taurus on April 27. It has the effect of slowing speeding thoughts and gives us time to consider our circumstances fully. Mercury in Taurus doesn’t always say much, but what it does say has often been mulled over for quite some time before being uttered.
