February is a much lighter month than January and will help all of us to ease into the new vibrations that 2020 has in store for us.

We begin the month with the Sun making its annual visit to independence loving Aquarius until February 18 and passionate Mars is in Sagittarius, the sign of freedom and adventure, until February 16. Venus, the planet of romance, shifts into trailblazing Aries on February 7 which means Venus and Mars will all be in fire signs.

Then 2 days later, the Full Moon moves into the sign of Leo. While it can be intense, this Full Moon does not match the intensity of January’s Full Moon Eclipse. Many will feel fluctuations in confidence. The ego gets extra confidence, with fiery pride of Self, heightening the awareness that we’re special. It carries strengthening vibrations that will guide us to feel confident and aligned with where we are on our journey. The strength of this Full Moon will also guide us to bring closure to past issues that have been holding us back or bogging us down. The February Full Moon gives us a newfound strength and wisdom that will really help support us as we move through the month. It will be hard to hold back our feelings and desires with all this energetic and passionate energy all around us. Fire is about action and risk-taking. This heart-opening full moon will give us the courage to express it all aloud.

But make sure you have a backup plan. On February 16, Mercury backs into retrograde motion until March 9. Mercury moved into Pisces on February 3. Mercury is in its detriment in this sign so traditionally finds it more difficult to function here. Mercury itself is a logical, fact-finding, information gathering planet but in Pisces, it all feels like an unknown quantity. Connecting with one's deeper self keeps us in sync so, that the motivation/drives behind our decisions and actions originate within the true desires of the self.  This is the first Mercury retrograde of the year will spend the majority of its term in Pisces, moving into Aquarius toward the end of this transit. Mixed messages could abound, along with guilt trips and passive-aggressive behavior. Since Pisces rules covert activities (sometimes wrapped in “friendly” facade), be careful whom you trust now. Strengthen your passwords and be careful about any kind of leaks.

Also on February 16 Mars moves into Capricorn. Action-oriented Mars loves Capricorn and it is "exalted" in Capricorn which means that its energies flow powerfully and easily here. This period is excellent for taking on big tasks and seeing them through to the finish. Neither Mars nor Capricorn is afraid of hard work. Capricorn is a sign of authority and organization. The independent nature of Mars could lead to some difficulties with authority figures at this time. Neither Mars nor Capricorn is noted for its sensitivity. This "toughness" helps us break through barriers while ignoring our own discomfort. However, it can also express itself as blind ambition, the kind that doesn't see or care about the people we step on as we climb the ladder of success. Compassion, for yourself and others, is a good balance against the possible excesses of this transit.

The Sun moves into Pisces on February 18. The last sign of the zodiac, Pisces marks the end of the astrological year. Now is the final stage of winter, a time for tying up loose ends and preparing for the coming spring. This is a time for looking inward. In this sense, Pisces may be the most important part of the zodiacal progression. Pisces ends one cycle and brings us to the brink of a new one that starts again in Aries.

We end the month on a calming note with The New Moon in Pisces. Because this New Moon gets a second helping of Pisces energy courtesy of the Sun, it offers a once-a-year chance to use your vision and inspiration to release old habits, addictions or dependencies and begin a new and healthier regime.  Used wisely this New Moon can be the first step to a new you.
