Don’t fret if haven’t set your goals for the coming year yet. I myself, had a hard time motivating myself as well. However, now that we’ve crossed over to February, we have plenty of opportunities to get your 2023 groove on!
February begins with all planets moving direct. After the retrograde periods of Mars and Mercury which did help re-define our directives, we are officially ready to fly forward with greater confidence on our path. February’s astrological weather offers ample opportunities for courageous connection with our dreams, authentic self-expression, and romance.
Besides offering all planets in direct motion, the astrology of February brings two natal planets in strong positions in the sky: Venus in Pisces and Mercury in Aquarius. If you’re someone who is energized by group collaboration, brainstorming and inventing plans for the launch of your next “big idea,” then Mercury’s transit through Aquarius is perfect for you.
We get the most intense astrology of February out of the way early with the arrival of this month’s full moon. Happening on February 5, in the sign of Leo, it will form a stressful alignment with the Aquarius Sun and Uranus in Taurus. The need to find a balance between “me” (Leo) and “us” (Aquarius) will be necessary, and a decision will need to be made. These alignments usually bring moments of crisis, so be prepared to receive sudden news due to wild Uranus being involved.
Venus in Pisces is, by far, the highlight of this month. Venus entered Pisces on January 26 and will swim in the warm waters of the sign until February 19. This is the strongest Venus ever gets in the entire year. Venus hasn’t been either comfortable or strong since December 9, when it left Sagittarius.
But of course, it wouldn’t be an interesting life without a little bit of drama! Pluto the planet of power, and transformation reaches the last degree of Capricorn, on February 11. Known as the “anaretic degree,” the 29 degree is one of karmic completion, bringing the end of an era that began back when Pluto first entered Capricorn in 2008. Pluto will remain in this degree until March 23, before dipping into Aquarius and then turning retrograde in May During these months, we can expect accelerated change in all sorts of collective events. Since Pluto is in Capricorn, we can expect to see more shadow material being disclosed about corruption and the so-called Plutocracy, as well as the government. Dark themes around AI, technology, and air pollution will also play a role, due to Aquarian influence already creeping in. Later in the year, Pluto will return to this super-charged degree from June 11 to July 26, and then again from December 20 to January 20. What’s even more interesting is that Pluto at the “anaretic degree” will overlap with Saturn, which will also be at the 29 degrees of Aquarius, from February 26 to March 7, which is when Saturn enters Pisces. During these days, stay alert for some shocking news rippling through the collective.
On February 18, the Sun makes its annual entrance into Pisces, taking us to the end of the astrological year. Being the last sign of the zodiac wheel, Pisces brings themes of completion and collective oneness. Emotion, creativity, and spirituality also become more prominent for the next four weeks. The second day of Pisces season blesses us with a gorgeous new moon. The luminaries unite at the very first degree of Pisces on February 19, just in time to still catch Venus in Pisces. This is a primed time to make considerable changes in our lives, to begin again. The configuration is ideal to take a chance and even a big risk. Whatever we begin now has the opportunity to last, as the luminaries will still be close to time-watcher Saturn in Aquarius.
Enjoy February’s cosmically uncluttered calendar, friends. March will come in like a lion and go out like one, with two of the year’s biggest transits, Saturn in Pisces and Pluto in Aquarius, both happening. Enjoy the brief respite before these big transitions begin.
