2020 was always destined to be a year of historic change. The cosmic events we have seen take shape this year indicate a new karmic cycle for the Earth and changes that go on to last for generations. November brings the completion of one of the major cosmic cycles we have been working with this year, the Jupiter Pluto Conjunction. It also brings the fourth and final Lunar Eclipse of the year and it closes all but one of the many retrograde cycles we have been working with. In the first few weeks of November, it feels like the tensions built up in October finally begin to unravel and we can see where we stand.
The most significant date this month is November 3, the day Mercury stations direct and of course the US election. There are positive and negative transits and unfortunately the election will not go smoothly. The 2000 “hanging chad” election between Bush and Gore had a similar transit. The difference here was that in 2000 Mercury was stationing to turn retrograde and now it is turning direct. There will still be glitches, but hopefully not to the degree of 20 year ago. The Sun is in the Eleventh House and the Moon is directly opposite in the Fifth House. The Eleventh House has to do with our allegiance to certain groups and organizations. In that sense, it relates to partisanship in politics. Uranus is conjunct the Moon and opposed to the Sun. This in itself is a promise of instability and explosive events, and those events seem likely to involve our politics. Mercury is squaring Jupiter/Saturn/Pluto and this transit affects the planets that control social and economic powers. Bear in mind they are all in Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn to begin with. Not known for flexibility. The Pluto square suggest extreme tactics, the Saturn square suggests rigid thinking and the Jupiter square suggest errors in judgment and dishonesty. All of this sounds pretty dire, however, there’s another way of looking at this chart. If we take the Moon as representing the “people,” then its conjunction to Uranus could describe an unprecedented energizing of the public will. Also, Venus in this chart is conjunct the Midheaven. This could mean that the election will be, in some way, good for women. It could also be telling us that, despite all the struggles and surprises this election is likely to entail, the ultimate outcome will be peaceful, and that we emerge from it a more united nation. Fingers crossed!
Mercury re-enters Scorpio on November 10. Mercury in Scorpio also primes the mind to connect with unconscious motivations. Positively, this transit offers us great insight as well as the possibility of greater intimacy through honest conversation. But there can also be suspicion and mistrust and a tendency to obsess so it’s important that we remain mindful.
Jupiter’s third and final conjunction to Pluto occurs on November 12. Finally, we begin to see what could not be seen before thanks to Jupiter’s ability to magnify. On a personal level, this alignment can shine a spotlight on our own financial situation. It is a good time to tune into the energy of abundance and to think about ways you can create more abundance in your own life. This conjunction has marked some of the world’s worst pandemics, from the 1918 Influenza Pandemic Flu to the 1980s HIV/AIDS epidemic. The last two exact Jupiter/Pluto meet ups were on April 4 and June 30. Both are times when the virus spiked. And as we head into November, major European cities have locked down and the US has reported the highest number of cases in a single day ever. This time, aggressive Mars will be stationing direct after its retrograde period on November 13. It could unleash major anger and public violence as it powers back up. Please be careful out there.
The New Moon in Scorpio occurs on November 15. Finally, it seems as though the cosmos brings us a quiet lunation. This New Moon connects with spiritual Neptune putting us in touch with our soul. The Scorpio New Moon is often a time where a new start requires us to close a door on another chapter before proceeding. Even if this is so, the sense is that we are ready and willing to do the necessary work. Letting go of any conflicting illusions and preconceived assumptions regarding personal prosperity enables you to make money doing what your heart loves. You don't have to suffer to follow your dreams, but you do need to passionately believe in the intrinsic value of your work.
Venus enters Scorpio on November 21 intensifying our relationships and also offering a transformative experience of the heart. Partnerships can be plagued by jealousy and possessiveness if trust is missing but relationships that are on an even keel benefit from experiencing greater closeness and more quality time together. Also on this day, the Sun moves into Sagittarius. While the Sun is in Sagittarius, dare to dream a little. Allow Sagittarian ideals to stir excitement within yourself. Let yourself be okay with being unsatisfied with simply existing and living in automatic mode. Have the courage to seek out living a passionate life, where your days are filled with people and activities that make you feel like your life is fulfilling instead of just full. Entertaining such thoughts won't mean you'll be dropping everything irresponsibly for the sake what could be. It simply helps widen your horizons and perhaps enlighten you to what you truly need or want out of life, at this juncture in your life. This is a perfect time to start thinking about those new goals and desires to be planted at spring.
On Thanksgiving Day November 26, we have a Mercury/Mars transit that maybe helpful around the Thanksgiving table. You can easily overcome challenges with your sharp and focused mind. Your communication skills are unusually honed now and you can talk your way out of almost anything. You are confident in your beliefs and ideas. Persuading others seems easy, making this a great time for presenting in front of a group. You can easily win debates without creating conflict or resentment. This transit is great for putting your plans into action.
Neptune stations direct in Pisces on November 29. While Neptune has been retrograde, we discovered where we were wishing for the impossible. Now that our old dreams have evaporated and we have discovered where we were deluding ourselves, we can create new dreams. But we also need to keep one foot on the ground.
November 30 serves up a Gemini Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse. Lunar eclipses can sweep away what no longer serves us, with little to no warning. Or, they bring shocking information into the open. But the days surrounding them can be chaotic and confusing. In dualistic Gemini, this eclipse could serve up some “fake news”. Brace yourself for a Cyber Monday plot twist or bombshell.
