As we welcome the new month of July, we may still feel lingering energy from the Eclipses, plus this month also brings a few cosmic alignments of its own that encourage us to push past some fears and find a new sense of motivation and confidence.
On July 4, there is an annoying square between Mars and Uranus that is just going to make the day full of frustrations. Things that have worked reliably in the past may stop working as expected. You are also likely to rebel in your relationships, especially old ones. Perhaps a quiet celebration instead of the huge family picnic would be prudent.
On July 9, the New Moon occurs in the sign of Cancer, prompting a new beginning. This is a time for feeding our foundation; all of that which we call home, including the foundation we’ve built inside ourselves, needs to be tended to and honored. It’s a time to recognize the importance of our family and our personal circle of friends and the security, sense of belonging, and safety we derive from them. However, with its closeness to Pluto, this lunation is confronting, as though we are tasked with earning our renewal. What should have been released long ago? Purge it now to move on.
Mercury moves into Cancer on July 11. When Mercury is in Cancer, we move from the desire for quantity to the need for quality in terms of the information we are attracted to. We think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level now. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are colored by our emotions, so it is more challenging to be objective.
The magical alignment of the two cosmic lovers on July 14 is rare one where we see Venus and Mars come together in unity. Venus and Mars combined energy brings the union of the yin and the yang or the masculine and the feminine. The meeting of Venus and Mars can instigate and accelerate the meeting of soul mates. So watch for any significant encounters that cross your path at this time.

The Sun entry into Leo on July 22 will be a welcome shift from Cancer’s watery depths. The Sun is home in Leo and is intensely individual; it’s not content with simply being just one of the team. We’re blossoming and it’s a time when we want to enjoy and express ourselves. We are more generous in our gestures and attitudes. On the shadow side, we can also be self-centered, bossy and vain, so watch out for that.
We have two Aquarius Full Moons back to back this year and the first one is on July 23. You can think of these two Full Moons as working in harmony with one another, so whatever unfolds at this Full Moon is likely to be replayed next month, or perhaps whatever is illuminated under this Full Moon will only be part of the story and the rest will be delivered to us under the second Aquarius Full Moon in August. This July Aquarius Full Moon carries the energy of transformation and creativity. It seems we may be encouraged to step out of our comfort zones and embrace a new way of being.
We bid farewell to Jupiter in Pisces on July 28 as it heads back into Aquarius for the next five months during its retrograde period. We made some good strides in visualizing our future while Jupiter was briefly in Pisces. Now that it heads back into Aquarius (whose traditional ruler was strict Saturn), it’s time to roll up our sleeves and pressure test some of these ideas we dreamed of. We may also see a little less grace and ease in our everyday life so rather than trusting on things working out all the time (Jupiter), we need to make sure we’re prepared, have done the work and stay vigilant about our duties (Saturn).
July affords us time to let the stardust settle; all that stirred up drama will dispel and disperse so take advantage of the coming cosmic tranquility.
