The astrology forecast for May is extremely powerful and life-changing! Bringing the first eclipse season of the year, the beginning of two important retrogrades, and the awaited sign shift of Jupiter, May is one of the pivotal months of 2021.
The month begins on a mellow note as Mercury enters Gemini on May 3; Mercury works very best in this sign that it rules, helping us formulate a wide variety of ideas and points of view. Mercury will stay in Gemini until July 27 due to its retrograde period which begins on May 29. This retrograde occurs during an extremely volatile astrological period. Not only will Mercury shift retrograde in between a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius and a Solar Eclipse in Gemini, the second exact square aspect between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus will also take place. As a result, we can expect endings, beginnings, and major turning points in our lives to occur while navigating the retrograde movement. Due to Gemini being a mutable sign, there will be a need to adjust to numerous changes occurring at once.
May 8 brings a big shift in the overall feminine energy as Venus leaves its home sign of Taurus to enter Gemini. In this air mutable sign, Venus becomes all about variety and intellectual stimulation, preferring long conversations over sensorial experiences. While flighty and fickle, Venus in this breezy air sign provides wit, curiosity, and adaptability to matters of love, beauty, and money.
The next big event of the month is the May 11 New Moon in Taurus. This lunation is a real powerhouse and an incredible time to set intentions around something that relates to our deepest desires or that require long-term transformation. The moon is exalted in Taurus and can work her magic at her very best. (I will be conducting a Lunar Meditation to tap into this awesome energy. It’s free on Facebook Live; you can find the details here.)
The absolute best transit of May’s astrology forecast is the shift of Jupiter on May 13. The planet of abundance and expansion enters Pisces, its traditional home sign. Although Jupiter will only stay here until July 28 (due to its retrograde motion), this short visit brings the promise of more empathy, open-mindedness, and fluidity in our lives. On a personal level, we will all experience growth in the area of our chart that is ruled by Pisces and the next few months should not be ignored when it comes to investing our efforts here. I will have more information on this transit and on the Jupiter Return closer to the event.

May’s astrology forecast gets intense around midmonth. On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus to enter mutable air sign Gemini. When the Sun enters Gemini, the energy shifts to light and airy. The Sun in Gemini encourages us to move quickly, multitask and be flexible. Should an obstacle block your path, think of ways around it. The downside here is Gemini's energy can cause a lack of focus and a tendency toward superficiality.
Saturn begins its yearly retrograde on May 23. The station of Saturn allows us time to contemplate our responsibilities, consider our priorities and how we are doing at the game of life. We become aware of the consequences as to how we have spent our time in the last seven months. During this period of reflection, we have a chance to mull over mistakes, make new plans and tie up loose ends. As Saturn is travelling through Aquarius, we are working on issues such as our responsibilities to the group, our contribution to humanity, the part we play in the whole.
On May 26 the Supermoon/Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius rises in the sky. With the Sun in the creative idea sign of Gemini, this full moon could bring you powerful ideas to boost anything you are choosing to have come into form. Also, remember that Sagittarius’s expansion and increased energy can be potent gifts when applied to what you actually want growing. When focused on an ineffective area or on what you do not want, however, it can also expand that very thing. It is important to keep your focus on what you do choose to have come into being. The lunar event will be particularly beneficial for the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Eclipses are powerful energy that creates change by opening and closing doors. If something or someone leaves your life around this time, trust that it will be in your best interest, regardless of if it seems like it or not. Be aware that the story is not over yet, as two weeks later, a new moon and solar eclipse will come around, this time bringing a powerful new beginning.
All of this energy makes May a potentially challenging month, but it’s worth remembering that all challenges come with their rewards.
