July does not waiver from June’s message to “hurry up and wait.” And there is nothing we can do but wait with 5 planets (Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto) in retrograde and asking us to look inward and take stock of who we are.
It should also be noted that this month there is strong Cardinal energy in the signs of Cancer, Capricorn and Aries. (Cardinal signs start every season and thus they are the leaders and “idea people” of the zodiac. Count on them to initiate a winning idea or plan.) This energy may help us plod against the tide and start to put plans into motion. Slowly of course, but surely.
We start off the month with retrograde Saturn backtracking into Capricorn for the rest of the cycle on July 1. We are very likely to see a whole lot more dirt dug up about what is going on behind the scenes by those in powerful positions in the world. Those with overwhelming domination in our lives will most likely be scrutinized strongly as more people rebel against restrictions. Any financial concerns that crop up during this retrograde should also be a signal for you to look more deeply at yourself. If it were all gone tomorrow, would you still be you? That is, would you still do what you’re doing today? Don’t invest further in something that you don’t really believe in. Find your faith or find another way.

On July 5 the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn is bound to thrust us into a state of heightened awareness of flaws in the structures of our lives, particularly in our career or outer structures and our home and family structures. Decisions made now are emotionally-driven. This eclipse right after the nation’s birthday can be an indication of an ending that will affect the elections. I also want to note that this eclipse comes just a few days after Saturn retrogrades back to Capricorn and is at 29 degrees, the anaretic degree and a point of crisis energy. So there may be some highly critical, intense energy floating around with this eclipse, and it may be focused on governments, corporations, countries, big entities. We have to be extra responsible, disciplined, and ethical to make it through alright. Otherwise it may be rough. This eclipse also makes a positive aspect to Uranus in Taurus. This is a helpful and it can get us thinking about the future, moving forward, and most importantly, what needs to change.
Communication planet Mercury is retrograde in the sensitive sign of Cancer until July 12. Not only do we need to protect our data and devices (Mercury can mess with technology), we’ll need to watch a tendency to be thin-skinned and reactive.
On July 20 we have the second appearance of the New Moon in Cancer The reason that there is another New Moon in Cancer is because the Cancer New Moon in June was at 0’ degrees of Cancer. A planet stays in a sign for as long as it that it takes to get to 29’ degrees of a sign before it moves to the next. (The Moon moves quickly, Pluto moves slowly.) Since the June Moon began at the very beginning, there was not enough time for the Moon to change signs before it was New again, therefore a second New Moon in Cancer. This New Moon is not a second-chance or do-over Moon. The June lunation was super-charged by the eclipse, this Moon has a Sun/Saturn opposition in its path making throwing obstacles in the way of a new start in the area of home and family issues. Instead patience is the key. You strive for stability, even while you are relentlessly climbing higher and higher.
Leo season, which arrives on July 22, will be a welcome relief. For many months, the planets have clustered in a little more than half of the zodiac signs, Cancer through Aquarius. We’ve had no planets in Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio or Sagittarius. If you think of it as a metaphor, we’re missing the heat of late summer and the temperance of fall within ourselves and the wider world. It will be good to move into heart-centered Leo’s domain. Hopefully that will provide some of the balance we are all seeking.
