The year is almost half over and what a year it’s been. June continues this year’s theme of discovering what we are made of. With six planets retrograde by the end of the month things will be moving slowly, giving us time to process and digest. Even with the Eclipses, we will be able to take any twists and turns at a steady pace.
We are now entering eclipse season with the lunar eclipse, taking place on June 5. This eclipse will be in Sagittarius, signaling that there are important decisions to be made around issues such as international connections, belief systems, legal issues or education. Sagittarius is about the big picture. The last time we had a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius was back in 2013, so this signifies the start of a new Eclipse cycle. This is a potent one and will really be guiding us to shed and remove those layers that have held us back and made us feel small. This Eclipse is about stepping into our power, and removing the obstacles that we very often place ourselves. We are far more powerful and knowing than we give ourselves credit for, and we are going to be reminded us of this. Mars is very active around this Eclipse, which means our emotions may be heated. There may be some unresolved anger floating to the surface, but it is important that we allow ourselves to feel all that arises.

As the month begins, three slow-moving outer planets are already retrograde; expansive Jupiter, structured Saturn and transformational Pluto until September/October. In the latter half of June, communicator Mercury in Cancer on the 18th and hazy Neptune in Pisces on the 23rd will join the retrograde brigade, demanding that we pause and assess before plowing forward with plans. Mercury through the sign Cancer in the global 4th house suggests that the themes we will be dealing with will be centered on home and family, childhood, roots, memories and feelings. Perhaps having had a lot more time at home recently, we’re re-thinking what we need. Neptune is the planet that rules our ideals, wishes and dreams. In backward motion, the veil of illusions lifts and we begin to see where we have been kidding ourselves. Realizing that we have been duped by illusions and disappointed by that which can never come to be can be a tough call for some. It’s tempting to lose faith, to feel disconnected, afraid that we are lost – and yet if we allow ourselves to see the truth, it creates the right conditions to dream a better dream, one that we can bring into manifestation.
Retrograde Venus will return to direct orbit on June 25, but before that on June 3, she will align with the Sun, reappearing as a morning star. This transition of Venus from a bright evening star to a morning star is considered the rebirth of Venus and a significant point on the Venus Retrograde cycle. Venus Retrograde is a time of heart healing. It is a time where we are drawn inward to clear through the blocks and barriers that prevent us from accessing love. The Rebirth of Venus signifies a time where any healing inspired by Venus Retrograde has been completed, making way for our own rebirth.
At the Summer Solstice on June 20, the Sun begins its annual visit to Cancer. And the next day, June 21, the Solar Eclipse/New Moon in Cancer will sweep through this touchy-feely sign. This is the grand finale in a two-year series of eclipses landing on the Cancer/Capricorn axis, which have been radically reshuffling the way we work and live since July 2018. With the Sun and Moon on the Solstice degree it seems to have extra significance. This eclipse is however, like the previous eclipse is square to Mars. So, we still have issues connected to action, goals, confidence and energy to address. There’s a sense that an important new start in our domestic life may push us out of our comfort zone in some way.
Mars enters his home sign Aries on June 28, beginning a super long transit through this sign due to a retrograde beginning in September. Mars will remain in Aries for the remainder of the year, not entering Taurus until January 7, 2021. It certainly seems as though this month is preparing us for this potent transit. Mars in Aries is going to bring some testing times, individually and globally as it will create squares to both Saturn and Pluto, re-animating issues that began back in January. Passions naturally run high when Mars is at home. We want to lead the charge against corruption (Pluto) and limitation (Saturn). But we’re going to have to accept some limits. We’re going to have to accept there are some things that aren’t in our control. It’s all about tempering our reactions and not losing our spirit/fight/will when things get in the way. As Mars enters Aries, he will create a sextile to Saturn which promises that there is a wonderful opportunity to build our muscles, assert authority, move forwards with integrity.
The final aspect of the month is the second conjunction between Jupiter and Pluto on June 30. As Jupiter rules abundance and Pluto is connected to great wealth, we could see much more talk about the highs and lows in the financial sectors. As governments spend trillions trying to bail us out of the consequences of Covid 19, we are also beginning to see huge changes in the world. This has the potential to manifest as an extreme magnification of truths that have previously been hidden. Yes, we are in an enormous crisis, but this is a catalyst for a greater vision. We mustn’t let our fears spiral out of control.
